Pay Per Click will generate very little revenue for your blog. You need a ton of traffic to make any money. There are far better ways to monetize your blog.

I always think the best way to monetize a blog is by offering 100% unique products. Find a friend who makes something of value and sell it. This way, no one else has what you offer. And you can work out a fair deal for the commission. If you use dropship products to sponsor a blog, just remember everyone else out there will have the same products. If you are going to dropship, its better when you are the product creator.

Yes, I know its easy to plugin some dropship products to an e-commerce site. Its also easy to place 12 sponsor banners on your blog’s homepage. From experience, I will say, this doesn’t work. Both of these ideas are quantity focused. Quantity/performance focused served as the crumbly foundation for general motors. Also, you are probably a smaller business compared to general motors. You don’t have the resources to take advanatage of volume and economies of scale. The only way you will make money is by selling higher end quality focused products. Yes, I’ve heard marketers give advice like “always do the opposite of what everyone else is doing.” So one year, everyone is selling $1200 products, you are supposed to sell $15 products. This doesn’t work either. First, you need to do what works. Second, you need to do what works for you. Going from $2000 to $10000 a month in income requires a very different set of steps than going from $10,000 to $100,000. At every level, you have to reevaluate your surroundings.

What does that exactly have to do with monetizing a blog? Well, bloggers will try and copy a multi million dollar site. They will try and design it the same, place banners all over the place. That just doesn’t work. I mean, you really don’t even know how profitable some of the larger sites are. They could be barely profitable and using their bricks and mortar income to float it. They could be a front for organized crime, laundering money. You just don’t know enough details. So I don’t ever suggest to just copy a site in the context of internet marketing. I suggest you play the game like you are solving a puzzle.
